Description

Penrite Everyday Plus 10W-40 Semi Synthetic Engine Oil 5L

Product Description

Penrite Everyday Plus 10W-40 is a premium-quality semi-synthetic engine oil developed to provide dependable protection across a wide range of passenger vehicles, four-wheel drives and light commercial vehicles. Its SAE 10W-40 viscosity makes it particularly suitable for vehicles requiring a stronger high-temperature lubricating film than that provided by many SAE 10W-30 engine oils.

Formulated using high-performance base oils and advanced engine-oil additive technology, Penrite Everyday Plus 10W-40 helps protect critical engine components against wear, sludge, piston deposits, oxidation and high-temperature operating stress. The formulation includes Penrite’s Full Zinc anti-wear package, supporting reliable lubrication of camshafts, valve-train components, bearings, piston rings and other heavily loaded engine surfaces.

This versatile oil is suitable for many naturally aspirated, turbocharged and supercharged petrol engines. It may also be used in compatible LPG, dual-fuel and light-duty diesel engines that do not have a diesel particulate filter and require the stated viscosity and performance level.

Penrite has updated this product range and the current Australian replacement is identified as Penrite Everyday 10W-40 Semi Synthetic. The Australian 5-litre product continues under product code ED10W40005, although packaging and product naming may vary between existing and current stock.

The current formulation meets API SP and ACEA A3/B4 performance requirements. API SP technology provides enhanced control of oxidation, deposits, timing-chain wear and low-speed pre-ignition in suitable petrol engines. The ACEA A3/B4 performance level makes the oil suitable for many higher-performance petrol and light-duty diesel engines requiring a stable, higher-viscosity lubricant.

The practical 5-litre container is suitable for routine servicing, workshop maintenance and owner-performed oil changes. The correct filling quantity should always be confirmed using the vehicle owner’s manual because engine oil capacities vary considerably between models and may differ depending on whether the oil filter is replaced.

Recommended Applications

Penrite Everyday Plus 10W-40 is designed for modern and established 4, 6 and 8-plus-cylinder engines requiring an SAE 10W-40 engine oil. It is suitable for a broad selection of engine designs, including:

  • Naturally aspirated petrol engines
  • Turbocharged petrol engines
  • Supercharged petrol engines
  • Multi-cam and multi-valve engines
  • Variable valve timing engines
  • Petrol passenger cars
  • Petrol four-wheel drives
  • Petrol light commercial vehicles
  • LPG and petrol dual-fuel vehicles
  • Compatible light-duty diesel engines without a DPF
  • Vehicles specifying ACEA A3/B3 or A3/B4
  • Vehicles specifying API SP or an earlier compatible API petrol category
  • Suitable four-stroke motorcycles requiring SAE 10W-40 and JASO MA2
  • Vehicles operated on E10 and other conventional petrol fuel blends

It may be considered where the manufacturer originally recommends SAE 10W-30 or SAE 10W-40, provided all other specification and operating requirements are satisfied. An SAE 10W-40 oil generally maintains a thicker lubricating film at normal engine operating temperatures than an SAE 10W-30 lubricant.

This oil must not be used solely because the engine requires a 10W-40 viscosity. The applicable API, ACEA, JASO or vehicle-manufacturer specification must also be checked. Modern vehicles equipped with diesel particulate filters, petrol particulate filters or specialised emission-control systems may require a different Low-SAPS engine oil.

Key Features and Benefits

Full Zinc Anti-Wear Protection

Penrite Everyday Plus 10W-40 contains a Full Zinc anti-wear additive package designed to protect heavily loaded engine surfaces. Zinc-based anti-wear chemistry forms a protective layer under demanding conditions, helping reduce wear when the normal lubricating film becomes thin.

This protection is particularly valuable around camshafts, valve-train components, bearings, piston assemblies and other areas exposed to high pressure or sliding contact. The additive package supports reliable engine protection during normal commuting, highway operation and more demanding operating conditions.

API SP Engine-Oil Technology

The current Australian formulation meets API SP, a performance category developed for modern petrol-engine requirements. API SP technology provides improved protection against low-speed pre-ignition, oxidation, sludge, high-temperature deposits and timing-chain wear compared with many earlier petrol-engine oil categories.

Low-speed pre-ignition can affect certain turbocharged, direct-injection petrol engines operating at low speed and high load. The oil’s current additive technology helps provide protection against this damaging combustion event when used in a compatible engine.

High-Temperature Protection

The SAE 40 operating-temperature viscosity helps maintain a substantial lubricating film when the engine is hot. This can be valuable for vehicles operating in Australia’s warm climate, under stop-start traffic conditions, when towing within manufacturer limits or during extended highway operation.

The correct oil should still be selected according to the vehicle manufacturer’s instructions. Using an oil that is unnecessarily thick can affect circulation, fuel economy and engine operation, particularly during cold starts.

Oxidation and Deposit Control

Engine oil is continually exposed to heat, oxygen, combustion by-products and contamination. Over time, these conditions can cause the oil to oxidise, thicken and form deposits.

Penrite Everyday Plus 10W-40 contains detergent, dispersant and oxidation-control additives that help keep contaminants suspended until the oil is drained. This assists in limiting sludge formation, piston deposits and varnish while supporting cleaner internal engine components.

Turbocharger Protection

Turbochargers operate at high rotational speeds and temperatures, placing significant demands on the engine oil. The formulation provides oxidation and deposit control that helps protect compatible turbocharged engines and reduce turbocharger deposit formation.

Correct shutdown practices, suitable oil-change intervals and unrestricted oil supply remain essential for turbocharger life. The vehicle manufacturer’s service schedule should always be followed.

Suitable for Stop-Start Operation

Repeated stop-start driving can expose engine components to frequent changes in oil pressure, temperature and load. Penrite’s current formulation provides enhanced protection for engines fitted with idle-stop technology and vehicles used regularly in congested urban driving.

Maintaining the correct oil level is particularly important under these conditions. Oil levels should be checked regularly and any unusual oil consumption investigated.

Catalyst and Oxygen-Sensor Compatibility

The current formulation is designed to be compatible with petrol catalytic converters and oxygen sensors when used correctly. Using the proper oil and maintaining the engine can support effective emission-control operation.

This does not make the product suitable for every emission system. Diesel vehicles fitted with a DPF that require a Low-SAPS ACEA C-category lubricant must use the specific oil grade stated by the manufacturer.

Vehicle and Fuel Compatibility

Penrite Everyday Plus 10W-40 is compatible with conventional petrol, E10, LPG, petrol/LPG dual-fuel and appropriate light-duty diesel applications. If the vehicle is operated on E85, Penrite recommends more frequent oil-change intervals because higher ethanol content can place additional demands on the lubricant.

For diesel engines, the product is intended for applications that permit API CF or ACEA A3/B3 or A3/B4 engine oils. It is not recommended for diesel engines fitted with a DPF where the manufacturer specifies a Low-SAPS ACEA C-grade oil.

The current formulation carries JASO MA2 performance and may be used in compatible four-stroke motorcycles with a wet clutch. However, older Everyday Plus formulations were not always presented with identical motorcycle suitability. Confirm the specifications printed on the container before using older-labelled stock in a motorcycle.

Handling & Storage Advice

Store Penrite Everyday Plus 10W-40 in its original, correctly labelled container. Keep the cap securely closed and store the container upright in a cool, dry and well-ventilated area protected from direct sunlight, excessive heat, ignition sources, water and contamination.

Do not allow dust, coolant, fuel, brake fluid, transmission fluid, used oil or other foreign material to enter the container. Even small amounts of contamination can affect engine-oil performance.

Avoid prolonged or repeated skin contact. Wear suitable protective gloves when servicing engines, handling used oil or cleaning spills. Wash exposed skin thoroughly with soap and water after use. Oil-soaked clothing should be removed and cleaned before reuse.

Clean spills promptly because engine oil can create a serious slip hazard. Use suitable absorbent material to contain small spills and prevent the product from entering drains, stormwater systems, soil or waterways. Used engine oil, contaminated absorbent material and empty containers should be disposed of through an appropriate recycling or waste-management service.

Keep new and used engine oils out of reach of children. Do not store lubricant in food or beverage containers. Consult the current Safety Data Sheet before commercial or workplace use.

Directions for Use

Before servicing the vehicle, confirm that SAE 10W-40 and the relevant API, ACEA, JASO or manufacturer performance level are permitted for the engine.

Warm the engine according to the vehicle manufacturer’s recommended service procedure. Switch off the engine, secure the vehicle and allow sufficient time for the oil to drain safely. Remove the sump plug carefully because used engine oil may be hot.

Drain the existing oil into a suitable collection container. Replace the sump-plug washer where required and tighten the plug to the manufacturer’s specified torque. Replace the oil filter using the correct filter for the vehicle.

Add Penrite Everyday Plus 10W-40 through the engine oil-filler opening. Begin with slightly less than the stated capacity, then check the dipstick or electronic oil-level system on level ground. Add oil gradually until the correct level is reached. Do not overfill.

Start the engine and allow it to run briefly while checking for leaks around the filter and sump plug. Switch off the engine, allow the oil to settle and recheck the level. Top up if required.

Never extend the oil-change interval beyond the vehicle manufacturer’s recommendation solely because a semi-synthetic oil is being used. Severe operation, short trips, dusty environments, towing, extended idling and E85 use may require shorter service intervals.
