Description

Mobil Super 3000 X1 Formula FE 5W-30 Full Synthetic Engine Oil

Product Description

Mobil Super 3000 X1 Formula FE 5W-30 is a full-synthetic engine oil formulated to provide dependable protection, engine cleanliness and fuel-economy performance in compatible petrol and diesel passenger vehicles, light commercial vehicles and vans.

The product is primarily designed for engines requiring a fuel-efficient SAE 5W-30 lubricant meeting Ford WSS-M2C913-D or the earlier Ford WSS-M2C913-C performance level. It is particularly relevant to compatible Ford vehicles and may also be used in suitable Jaguar and Land Rover applications calling for STJLR.03.5003, subject to confirmation against the supplied package and vehicle handbook.

Formula FE identifies the product’s fuel-economy positioning. Its ACEA A5/B5 performance uses a lower high-temperature high-shear viscosity than conventional ACEA A3/B4 oils. This can reduce internal resistance and support fuel efficiency in engines specifically designed for this type of lubricant.

The lower-friction characteristics must not be interpreted as universal compatibility. An engine requiring ACEA A3/B4, ACEA C2, ACEA C3, ACEA C4 or another manufacturer-specific specification may require a substantially different lubricant.

Mobil Super 3000 X1 Formula FE 5W-30 combines synthetic base-oil technology with detergent, dispersant, anti-wear, oxidation-control and corrosion-protection additives. This formulation helps protect critical components across a broad range of starting and operating temperatures.

The SAE 5W cold-temperature classification supports rapid circulation during start-up. Prompt oil flow helps deliver protection to camshafts, bearings, timing components, turbocharger bearings and other lubricated surfaces while the engine is warming.

Its SAE 30 operating-temperature viscosity provides the oil-film characteristics required by compatible engines after they reach normal operating temperature. The oil has a typical viscosity of 9.8 mm²/s at 100°C and a viscosity index of approximately 173.

Mobil identifies enhanced high-temperature protection, cold-start performance, engine cleanliness, sludge prevention and wear protection as central product benefits.

These characteristics make the oil suitable for everyday commuting, highway travel and demanding operating conditions where the correct Ford or ACEA A5/B5 specification is required.

The product may be used in compatible petrol and diesel engines. Diesel suitability does not mean that it is appropriate for every modern diesel vehicle. Many engines fitted with diesel particulate filters require a low-SAPS ACEA C-category oil rather than an ACEA A5/B5 lubricant.

Mobil Super 3000 X1 Formula FE 5W-30 has a published sulfated-ash content of 1.1% by mass. It should not automatically be described as a low-SAPS engine oil or substituted for Mobil products carrying ACEA C2 or C3 performance.

The vehicle owner’s manual must be checked before use. Confirm the required SAE viscosity, ACEA category, API performance and manufacturer specification.

Key Features and Benefits

Full-Synthetic Technology

Mobil Super 3000 X1 Formula FE 5W-30 uses full-synthetic technology to support lubrication across a broad range of operating temperatures.

Synthetic base oils generally provide improved low-temperature flow, oxidation resistance and viscosity stability compared with basic mineral formulations.

These qualities are valuable during repeated cold starts, sustained highway operation and high-temperature driving conditions.

Ford WSS-M2C913-D Approval

The Australian formulation carries formal Ford WSS-M2C913-D approval.

This specification addresses fuel economy, wear protection, piston cleanliness, soot handling and oil durability for compatible Ford petrol and diesel engines.

A formal approval is more specific than a general suitability statement. It confirms that the product has been recognised against the published manufacturer standard.

The approval does not make the oil suitable for Ford engines requiring a different specification.

ACEA A5/B5 Fuel-Economy Performance

ACEA A5/B5 is intended for compatible petrol and light-duty diesel engines designed for lower-viscosity, fuel-efficient oil.

The lower HTHS characteristics can reduce internal pumping and frictional losses, supporting improved fuel economy.

Fuel savings vary according to engine design, mechanical condition, driving style, load, tyre pressure, ambient temperature and comparison oil.

Cold-Start Circulation

The SAE 5W classification and -39°C typical pour point support effective circulation during cold starting.

Fast oil delivery helps protect components while the engine builds pressure and reaches operating temperature.

Drivers should still avoid immediate high engine speed or heavy load after starting a cold engine.

High-Temperature Protection

The SAE 30 operating-temperature viscosity helps maintain a protective oil film in compatible engines during normal and demanding operation.

Mobil identifies enhanced high-temperature protection as a core product benefit.

Maintaining the correct oil level remains essential. Even premium synthetic oil cannot protect an engine operating with insufficient lubricant.

Wear Protection

Anti-wear additives help protect loaded components when the normal fluid film becomes thin.

Protected areas may include:

  • Camshaft lobes
  • Valve-train components
  • Crankshaft bearings
  • Connecting-rod bearings
  • Pistons and rings
  • Cylinder surfaces
  • Timing components
  • Turbocharger bearings

The oil cannot repair worn parts, blocked oil passages, defective pumps or pre-existing mechanical damage.

Engine Cleanliness

Detergent and dispersant additives help control sludge, varnish and piston deposits.

Contaminants are held in suspension so they can be removed during the scheduled oil and filter change.

Internal cleanliness supports oil circulation, piston-ring movement, heat transfer and consistent engine performance.

Oxidation Resistance

High temperature and oxygen exposure progressively degrade engine oil.

Synthetic technology and oxidation-control additives help slow thickening, deposit formation and loss of performance during service.

Oil-change intervals must still follow the manufacturer’s instructions. Short trips, fuel dilution, dusty operation and excessive idling may require more frequent servicing.

Petrol and Diesel Versatility

Mobil Super 3000 X1 Formula FE 5W-30 can simplify workshop inventory where both petrol and diesel engines require the same Ford or ACEA A5/B5 performance.

Diesel compatibility must be assessed carefully. The API CF category is an older diesel performance category and does not represent current heavy-duty diesel protection.

Turbocharger Protection

Compatible turbocharged engines expose oil to high speed and temperature.

Rapid oil circulation and oxidation resistance help protect turbocharger bearings and control deposits.

Allow a heavily loaded turbocharged engine to cool according to the manufacturer’s recommendations before shutdown.

Suitable for Demanding Conditions

Mobil recommends the product for vehicles regularly exposed to demanding operation and frequent engine stress.

Examples can include stop-start traffic, highway travel, towing within vehicle limits, hot-weather operation and frequent short journeys.

Severe service may require shorter oil-change intervals.

Handling & Storage Advice

Store Mobil Super 3000 X1 Formula FE 5W-30 in its original, correctly labelled container. Keep the package securely closed and upright in a cool, dry and well-ventilated location.

Protect the container from direct sunlight, rain, excessive heat, freezing conditions and physical damage.

Do not allow water, fuel, coolant, brake fluid, cleaning chemicals, dust, used oil or other lubricants to enter the container.

Use clean, dedicated dispensing equipment. A contaminated funnel, pump or transfer container can introduce abrasive particles or incompatible fluids.

Avoid prolonged or repeated skin contact with new or used engine oil. Wear suitable oil-resistant gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses during servicing.

Used engine oil can contain harmful contaminants. Wash exposed skin thoroughly with soap and water. Do not use petrol, solvents or abrasive cleaners to clean oil from the skin.

Clean spills promptly because engine oil creates a serious slip hazard. Contain spilled material with suitable absorbent and prevent it from entering drains, soil, stormwater systems or waterways.

Five-litre containers should be lifted using a secure grip. Full 20-litre containers are heavy and should be assessed before lifting; use assistance where the load cannot be handled safely.

A full 208-litre drum requires purpose-designed mechanical handling equipment. Do not attempt to lift or manually reposition it.

Used oil should be collected and sent to an authorised lubricant-recycling or waste-management service. Do not dispose of engine oil into drains, soil, general waste or waterways.

Consult the current Australian Mobil Safety Data Sheet before workplace use.

Directions for Use

Check the vehicle owner’s manual and confirm that SAE 5W-30, ACEA A5/B5 and Ford WSS-M2C913-D, WSS-M2C913-C or another published product claim are appropriate.

Confirm whether the vehicle requires a lower-HTHS fuel-economy oil. Do not use this product where the manufacturer requires ACEA A3/B4 or a different ACEA C-category lubricant.

Warm the engine according to the manufacturer’s service procedure. Switch off the engine, secure the vehicle and allow the oil to drain safely.

Used oil can be extremely hot. Wear appropriate protective equipment when removing the filler cap, drain plug and oil filter.

Drain the used oil into a suitable collection container. Replace the drain-plug sealing washer where required and tighten the plug to the manufacturer’s specified torque.

Replace the oil filter using the correct part. Add Mobil Super 3000 X1 Formula FE 5W-30 gradually through the designated filling point.

Do not assume that a complete container represents the correct fill quantity. Oil capacities vary between engines and may differ between an oil-only change and an oil-and-filter service.

Start the engine and allow the oil to circulate. Check for leakage around the filter, drain plug and filler cap.

Switch off the engine, allow the oil to settle and check the level using the manufacturer’s procedure.

Do not overfill. Both insufficient and excessive oil levels can cause operational problems or engine damage.

Follow the manufacturer’s oil and filter service interval. Severe operation may require more frequent servicing.

Avoid mixing with unknown engine oils. Although many engine oils are physically miscible, mixing can reduce fuel-economy performance and lower the specification of the finished lubricant.
