DPF is a special filter located in the exhaust to filter soot in the exhaust gas.
There are various DPFs, including metal fiber DPFs, silicon carbide DPFs, and cordierite DPFs, but the most common type is cellular ceramic honeycomb filters. Most of the soot is caused by oil burning in the engine chamber. This filter is washable, and the main problem with it is its limited capacity to trap the soot.
Therefore, the role of engine oil in the block of DPF when the engine is facing an oil-burning problem. Selecting engine oil with low sulfated ash can be a wise choice.
