Description

Castrol Hyspin AWS 68 – VG 68 Anti-Wear Hydraulic Oil – 205 L Drum

Overview

Castrol Hyspin AWS 68 is a premium-grade anti-wear hydraulic oil formulated to deliver exceptional longevity, protection and reliability in industrial and mobile hydraulic systems where ISO VG 68 viscosity is required. Developed with high-performance mineral base oils enhanced with a stabilized zinc anti-wear additive system, this fluid provides excellent film strength, oxidation stability, water separation and corrosion protection. Its ISO 68 viscosity ensures robust lubrication under heavy-load, high-temperature or high-pressure conditions, making it highly suitable for demanding hydraulic applications.

The 205-litre drum packaging is ideal for large-scale operations, maintenance fleets, workshops, and industrial plants that require bulk fluid supply. With its high durability and broad compatibility, Hyspin AWS 68 supports longer service intervals, improved machine uptime and lower total cost of ownership.

Key Features & Benefits

  • VG 68 Viscosity Grade (ISO 68) ensures a thick lubricant film that protects hydraulic surfaces under heavy duty, high temperature or slow-speed and high-load conditions.

  • Anti-Wear Additive System uses stabilized zinc-based technology to reduce metal-to-metal wear in pumps, valves, pistons and actuators, thus extending component lifespan.

  • Excellent Oxidation & Thermal Stability prevents varnish, sludge formation and deposit build-up, keeping systems cleaner and extending fluid life.

  • Outstanding Demulsibility & Water Separation quickly separates water contamination, reducing risk of corrosion, cavitation and system breakdowns in humid or exposed environments.

  • Rust & Corrosion Inhibition protects ferrous and non-ferrous metals in hydraulic circuits, even in damp, humid or wet-wash down conditions.

  • Low Foam & High Air-Release Characteristics enable smooth hydraulic response, reduce pump cavitation risk and support precise control and reliability.

  • Good Filterability supports viscous fluids in systems with fine filtration, maintaining cleanliness and reducing downtime for servicing.

  • Seal Compatibility compatible with common elastomers (nitrile, silicone, fluoropolymer) in hydraulic systems, minimising risk of leaks or seal failure.

  • Bulk Drum Format for Cost Efficiency offers value for high-volume use, fewer container changes, and consistent performance in large infrastructures.

Applications

Castrol Hyspin AWS 68 is suitable for a wide range of high-duty hydraulic systems including:

  • Mobile earth-moving equipment such as excavators, wheel loaders, articulated dump trucks and graders

  • Industrial hydraulic power units, presses, injection-moulding machines, die-casting equipment and manufacturing plants

  • Large hydraulic systems in mining, quarrying, marine deck hydraulics and offshore equipment

  • Agricultural hydraulic systems in large tractors, harvesters, sprayers and irrigation machines operating under heavy load and temperature conditions

  • Workshop and fleet environments requiring bulk hydraulic fluid supply and long service intervals

  • Hydraulic systems that demand anti-wear protection, reliable viscosity under high temperature and consistent performance across demanding duty cycles

Note: Not intended for use in systems requiring fire-resistant, food-grade or zinc-free fluids unless explicitly approved by the equipment manufacturer.

Performance Specifications & Standards

Castrol Hyspin AWS 68 meets or exceeds many major international hydraulic fluid performance standards and OEM requirements, confirming its suitability for heavy-duty use:

  • ISO 11158 – HM type (Anti-Wear)

  • DIN 51524 Part 2 – HLP classification

  • ISO 6743/4 – Hydraulic Oils Type HM

  • Eaton (formerly Vickers) I-286-S / M-2950-S

  • Denison HF-0, HF-1, HF-2

  • Bosch Rexroth RE 90220

  • Cincinnati Milacron P-68, P-69, P-70 (for VG 68)

  • US Steel 126 & 127
These approvals ensure compatibility with a broad range of hydraulic pumps, motors, actuators and high-performance machinery.

Handling & Storage Advice

  • Store the 205-litre drum in a clean, dry, well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight, extreme heat or freezing conditions.

  • Keep containers tightly sealed when not in use to prevent contamination by moisture, dust or other fluids.

  • Use dedicated, clean dispensing equipment to avoid cross-contamination with incompatible oils or fluids.

  • Avoid mixing with other hydraulic fluids unless compatibility is verified; mixing may degrade performance and void warranties.

  • Ensure correct labelling and segregation of both fresh and used oils in storage to prevent accidental use in incorrect systems.

  • Dispose of used oil and filters in accordance with local environmental regulations and approved waste management procedures.

  • Refer to the product’s Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for detailed health, safety and environmental information.

  • With correct storage in sealed packaging, the expected shelf life is approximately 5 years.
